national newspapers

National newspapers are publications distributed throughout an entire country rather than serving a particular city or region.

The term is more common in countries like Britain, where papers like *The Times* or *The Guardian* circulate nationwide, than in the United States, where most papers historically served local markets.

The story made all the national newspapers.
