nail ridges
Keratin surface lines
Nail ridges are vertical or horizontal lines on the surface of fingernails or toenails.
Vertical ridges running from cuticle to tip are common and typically harmless, becoming more pronounced with age.
Horizontal ridges, called Beau's lines, may indicate illness, injury, or nutritional deficiency: The doctor noticed nail ridges and asked about my recent health.
