mythic creature
Dragon or griffin
A mythic creature is a being from mythology, folklore, or legend—dragons, unicorns, phoenixes, centaurs.
The phrase emphasizes the creature's origin in traditional storytelling rather than imagination generally: The griffin is a mythic creature with an eagle's head and lion's body.
