Defying the captain
Mutinying is engaging in open rebellion against authority, especially by sailors or soldiers against their officers.
The word appears in progressive contexts: The crew was mutinying against the captain.
More broadly, any subordinate group refusing to follow orders might be described as mutinying: By the third day of the road trip, the kids were mutinying.
