music anthologies

Music anthologies are curated collections of recordings, typically spanning an artist's career, a genre, an era, or a theme.

They gather tracks from various sources into a single package: a jazz anthology covering 1920 to 1960, a three-disc anthology of British punk.

Unlike greatest hits albums, anthologies often include deep cuts, rarities, and contextual liner notes aimed at serious listeners or historians.
