mount up

Climb onto horseback

Mount up means to get on a horse or other animal for riding, typically used as a command or call to action.

The phrase evokes cavalry, westerns, and group departures on horseback: Mount up, men—we ride at dawn.

By extension, it applies to getting onto motorcycles or into vehicles.

Mount up also means to accumulate or increase over time: The bills are mounting up.

Evidence continues to mount up against the defendant.
