mixed-member
Dual electoral system
Mixed-member describes electoral systems that combine two methods of voting—typically single-member districts with proportional representation.
Voters cast two ballots: one for a local candidate, another for a party.
The proportional seats help correct imbalances so that a party's total seats better reflect its overall vote share.
Germany uses a mixed-member proportional system.
