misstamped
Incorrectly marked mechanically
Misstamped describes something stamped incorrectly—with the wrong date, denomination, image, or marking.
The term appears most often in philately and numismatics, where misstamped coins or stamps can be valuable collector's items: a misstamped quarter with a double strike.
It also applies to documents or packages bearing incorrect postmarks or certification marks.
