misbranded
Deceptively marked goods
Misbranded describes a product whose labeling is false, misleading, or fails to meet legal requirements.
The term appears most often in regulatory contexts—food, drugs, and cosmetics can be deemed misbranded if packaging omits required information or makes unauthorized claims: The FDA seized the misbranded supplements.
A misbranded product isn't necessarily dangerous, just improperly labeled.
