Hides active window
The minimize button is a control in graphical user interfaces that collapses a window to the taskbar or dock without closing it.
Typically represented by a horizontal line or underscore, it's one of the standard window controls alongside maximize and close: Click the minimize button to get it out of the way while you work on something else.
