million years

Deep time unit

A million years is an immense span of time, used literally in geology and evolutionary biology to describe deep time: The dinosaurs died out sixty-six million years ago.

In casual speech, it's hyperbole for any long period: I haven't seen you in a million years.

The phrase not in a million years means absolutely never: I wouldn't do that in a million years.
