meet one's maker
Reach the afterlife
To meet one's maker is to die—to encounter the God who created you.
The phrase is often used euphemistically or with dark humor: After that heart attack, I thought I was about to meet my maker.
It can also appear as a threat or warning about mortality: Keep driving like that and you'll meet your maker.
