magic slate
Lift-to-clear toy
A magic slate is a children's drawing toy consisting of a dark wax or carbon layer beneath a thin plastic sheet.
Marks made with a stylus appear where the plastic contacts the underlayer; lifting the sheet erases everything, allowing a fresh start.
The toy's appeal lies in endless reuse without paper: She scribbled on her magic slate during the car ride.
