living legends
Still-alive greats
Living legends are people still alive who have achieved such extraordinary status in their field that they're regarded with the awe usually reserved for historical figures.
The phrase acknowledges that legendary status typically comes posthumously—these individuals have earned it while still around to witness it: She performed alongside living legends of jazz.
Often used hyperbolically in sports and entertainment.
