living donors
Alive organ givers
Living donors are people who donate organs or tissue while alive, rather than after death.
Most commonly, living donors give a kidney—since humans can function with one—or a portion of liver, which regenerates.
Living donation allows transplants to occur without waiting for a deceased donor: She received a kidney from a living donor, her sister.
