liquor control
Beverage sales oversight
Liquor control refers to government regulation of the sale, distribution, and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
In some U.S. states and Canadian provinces, liquor control means the government operates retail stores directly: The liquor control board sets prices and hours.
These jurisdictions are called control states, as opposed to license states where private businesses sell alcohol under permit.
