link rot
Broken web addresses
Link rot is the gradual decay of hyperlinks on the internet as the pages they point to disappear, move, or change.
Over time, links that once worked return errors or lead to unrelated content.
The phenomenon affects websites, academic citations, and legal documents alike: Half the URLs in that 2010 article are dead from link rot.
