lice check
School nurse ritual
A lice check is an inspection of someone's scalp for head lice or their eggs (nits), typically performed on schoolchildren during outbreaks.
School nurses or parents part the hair in sections, examining close to the scalp where lice attach their eggs: The school sent home a note about tomorrow's lice check.
