lane splitting
Between-car motorcycling
Lane splitting is riding a motorcycle between lanes of slower or stopped traffic, threading through the gap between vehicles.
Legal in some jurisdictions, prohibited in others.
Also called lane filtering or white-lining: California explicitly permits lane splitting on highways.
The practice reduces congestion and keeps air-cooled engines from overheating in traffic jams.
