landsmen
Non-sailors, generally speaking
Landsmen is the plural of landsman, a person who lives and works on land rather than at sea.
The term appears most often in nautical contexts, where sailors distinguish themselves from those unfamiliar with seafaring life: The landsmen stumbled about the deck during the storm.
In Yiddish-influenced usage, a landsman is a fellow countryman or someone from the same town or region.
