A ladies' room is a public restroom for women.
The term is slightly more genteel than women's room and appears on signage in restaurants, theaters, and other public venues: Excuse me, where's the ladies' room?
The possessive apostrophe reflects the older convention of calling women "ladies" in polite contexts.
