lackwit
One lacking intelligence
A lackwit is a stupid or foolish person—someone lacking wit or intelligence.
The word is old-fashioned and literary, appearing more often in historical fiction than contemporary speech: The lackwit couldn't find his way home.
It functions both as a noun and as a mild insult, less harsh than modern equivalents.
