kangaroo joey
Hopper's nursed offspring
A kangaroo joey is the young offspring of a kangaroo.
Like all marsupials, joeys are born extremely undeveloped and crawl into the mother's pouch, where they continue growing for several months before emerging.
The term joey applies to young kangaroos from birth through the stage when they still return to the pouch for nursing or safety.
