junior highs
Pre-high school institutions
Junior highs is the plural of junior high, short for junior high school—an American educational institution serving students typically between elementary school and high school, usually grades seven through nine.
The term has largely given way to middle school in many districts: Back in the eighties, most kids around here went to junior highs.
