Jangled describes nerves that are frayed, raw, or on edge—the state of being agitated or unsettled: Her jangled nerves couldn't take another surprise.
It also describes harsh, discordant sounds—bells or keys that clatter unpleasantly rather than ring clearly: The jangled chords set everyone's teeth on edge.
