ink brush
Asian calligraphy tool
An ink brush is a writing and painting tool used in East Asian calligraphy and art, consisting of animal hair bound to a bamboo or wooden handle.
Unlike Western brushes, ink brushes taper to a fine point and are held vertically.
The brush is dipped in liquid ink and applied with varied pressure to create strokes of different widths: She practiced her characters with an ink brush.
Along with ink, inkstone, and paper, the ink brush is one of the Four Treasures of the Study in Chinese tradition.
