idle timeout
Automatic session termination
An idle timeout is the period of inactivity after which a system automatically disconnects a user or ends a session.
Security measure and resource management combine: if you walk away from your computer or stop interacting with a website, the idle timeout logs you out or closes your connection.
The banking app has a five-minute idle timeout.
I lost my work because the idle timeout kicked in while I was on the phone.
