hypofunction
Below normal activity
Hypofunction is diminished or inadequate function of an organ or system, the opposite of hyperfunction.
The term appears in medical contexts: thyroid hypofunction, adrenal hypofunction.
A hypofunctioning gland produces insufficient hormones; a hypofunctioning kidney filters blood poorly.
