human microphone
People relay speech
A human microphone is a method of amplifying speech in large crowds where electronic amplification is unavailable or prohibited.
The speaker delivers a message in short phrases, which are then repeated in unison by those nearby, allowing the words to carry to people farther away.
The technique gained prominence during the Occupy Wall Street protests of 2011, when amplified sound was banned in certain public spaces.
The general assembly used the human microphone to conduct meetings in the park.
