hound dogs
Pack of trackers
Hound dogs are dogs bred to hunt by scent or sight—beagles, bloodhounds, greyhounds, and their kin.
The phrase is slightly redundant, since hound already means a hunting dog, but it has become fixed in American speech, especially through Elvis Presley's 1956 hit: You ain't nothin' but a hound dog.
The song cemented the term as an insult for someone worthless or contemptible.
