home and dry
Successfully through difficulty
Home and dry describes having successfully completed something or reached a safe position after difficulty or uncertainty.
The expression evokes arriving at one's destination without getting caught in the rain—safe, secure, and unscathed.
It's especially common in British English, while Americans tend to say home free.
Once we signed the contract, we were home and dry.
