hobby box
Trading card container
A hobby box is a retail package of trading cards—sports cards, Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering—sold through specialty shops rather than mass retailers.
Hobby boxes typically contain more packs and better odds of finding rare inserts, autographs, or memorabilia cards than retail boxes sold at big-box stores: I pulled a rookie auto from my hobby box.
The term distinguishes serious collector product from casual purchases.
