Paths through history
Historical trails are routes significant for their past use—paths traveled by explorers, traders, migrants, or armies.
Many have been preserved or reconstructed for commemoration and recreation: We hiked a section of the Oregon Trail, The Freedom Trail connects Revolutionary War sites in Boston.
Some remain visible only as traces across the landscape.
