hinged panels
Pivoting room dividers
Hinged panels are flat surfaces attached by hinges that allow them to swing open or closed.
They appear in furniture like cabinets and armoires, in architecture as shutters or access doors, and in room dividers that fold accordion-style.
The hinge placement determines whether panels swing inward, outward, or both directions.
The hinged panels of the triptych allowed the artwork to be closed for protection during transport.
