halvings
Divisions by two
Halvings is the plural of halving—an instance of cutting something in half or reducing it by fifty percent.
The term appears frequently in cryptocurrency contexts, where a halving is a scheduled event that cuts mining rewards in half: Bitcoin halvings occur roughly every four years.
Outside crypto, halvings describe any repeated bisection: successive halvings of the dose.
