half-timers

Not fully employed

Half-timers are workers employed for half the standard hours, or students who attend school part-time.

In 19th-century Britain, half-timers were children who split their day between factory work and compulsory schooling under laws meant to limit child labor: The mill employed dozens of half-timers, most under twelve.

The term now usually just means part-time workers or students.
