half-long
Neither short nor
Half-long describes a vowel sound intermediate in duration between short and long—a technical term in phonetics for sounds that don't fit neatly into the binary categories most languages use.
The term also appears in descriptions of hair, sleeves, or other things that fall between short and long: a half-long bob, half-long sleeves that hit at the elbow.
