guerrilla theater
Surprise public performances
Guerrilla theater is impromptu or surprise dramatic performance in public spaces, intended to provoke, disrupt, or make a political point.
Unlike conventional theater, it ambushes its audience—on streets, in malls, at political events—blurring the line between spectacle and everyday life: Activists staged guerrilla theater at the shareholders' meeting.
The term borrows from guerrilla warfare's hit-and-run tactics.
