Runway traffic director
A ground controller is a person who directs aircraft movements from the ground, typically at an airport.
Ground controllers manage taxiing planes, coordinate runway access, and guide aircraft to gates.
The term also applies to personnel who communicate with spacecraft or satellites from Earth-based stations: Mission control's ground controllers monitored the shuttle's descent.
