green state
Environmentally conscious jurisdiction
A green state is one where environmental policies or the Green Party hold significant influence, or where natural landscapes dominate.
In American political context, it sometimes describes states that aren't firmly red (Republican) or blue (Democratic), though this usage is less common than referring to environmental orientation: Oregon has long been considered a green state.
