grapevine step

Crossing dance step

A grapevine step is a sideways movement in dance or aerobics where you step to the side, cross one foot behind, step to the side again, then bring the feet together.

The pattern creates a weaving motion as you travel laterally: The instructor called out the grapevine step and everyone moved in sync across the floor.

Common in line dancing, aerobics classes, and folk dances.
