grape hyacinths
Tiny purple clusters
Grape hyacinths are small spring-flowering bulbs producing dense clusters of tiny, rounded blue or purple flowers that resemble miniature grapes.
Native to Eurasia, they spread readily in gardens and naturalize in lawns: The grape hyacinths came up along the stone wall.
Despite the name, they belong to a different family than true hyacinths.
