go bye-bye

Baby's farewell phrase

Go bye-bye is baby talk for leaving or departing, used when speaking to small children: Time to go bye-bye!

Adults use it playfully or sarcastically to mean something has disappeared or been eliminated: My savings went bye-bye after that vacation.

The reduplication mimics how caregivers simplify language for toddlers.
