getting behind

Losing your pace

Getting behind has two opposed meanings.

To get behind something is to support it: The whole team got behind the proposal.

But to get behind on something is to fall into arrears or delay: I'm getting behind on my rent, She got behind in her coursework.

Context usually clarifies which sense is meant.
