get into the act
Start getting involved
To get into the act is to join an activity already underway, often uninvited or opportunistically.
The phrase comes from show business—someone literally entering a performance—but now applies broadly: Once the project showed promise, everyone wanted to get into the act.
It often carries a hint of bandwagon-jumping or unwelcome interference.
