gambling ring
Illegal wagering network
A gambling ring is an organized group running illegal gambling operations, typically involving bookmaking, underground casinos, or sports betting.
The "ring" suggests a network of participants—organizers, bookies, collectors—operating outside legal channels: Police broke up a gambling ring that had been taking bets on college basketball for years.
