gallbladder disease
Organ storing bile
Gallbladder disease covers conditions affecting the gallbladder, the small organ that stores bile for digestion.
Most commonly this means gallstones—hardened deposits that can block bile ducts and cause intense pain, nausea, or infection.
Other forms include inflammation (cholecystitis) and, rarely, cancer.
Treatment often involves surgical removal of the gallbladder: She had her gallbladder out after years of gallbladder disease.
