front-load washer
Door-facing laundry machine
A front-load washer is a washing machine with a door on the front rather than a hinged lid on top.
Clothes tumble through water at the bottom of a horizontal drum, using less water and energy than top-loaders.
Front-loaders are typically more expensive but gentler on fabrics: We upgraded to a front-load washer when we renovated the laundry room.
