fro
Pendulum's return path
Fro survives almost exclusively in the phrase to and fro, meaning back and forth: The pendulum swung to and fro.
On its own, fro is archaic for "from" or "away." The word appears in a few other fossilized expressions like hither and fro, but these are rare and literary.
