fresh starts
Clean slates ahead
Fresh starts are new beginnings that leave behind past failures, mistakes, or circumstances.
The phrase implies a clean slate—debts forgiven, records cleared, relationships reset: After the divorce, she moved across the country for a fresh start.
New Year's resolutions trade on the psychology of fresh starts, as do bankruptcy laws and witness protection programs.
